Oman's share index ends marginally lower

Muscat: The MSM30 index closed at 3,520.57 points, down 0.11 per cent from previous close. The Sharia index ended down by 0.22 per cent at 515.21 points.
Muscat Gases up 6.7 per cent was the top gainer while SMN Power, down 6.67 per cent was the top loser. National Bank of Oman was the most active in terms of number of shares traded and also was the most active in terms of turnover.
A total number of 437 trades were executed during the day's trading session, generating turnover of OMR 2.3 million, with more than 17.1 million shares changing hands.
Out of 46 traded stocks, 7 advanced, 19 declined and 20 remained unchanged. At the session close, foreign investors were net sellers for OMR348,000 while local investors were net buyers for OMR274,000 followed by GCC and Arab investors for OMR75,000 worth of shares.
Financial Index closed down by 0.19 per cent at 5,596.78 points, from previous close. Al Madina Takaful and National Bank of Oman were up by 1.47 per cent and 1.16 per cent respectively. National Life & General, Taageer Finance, Takaful Oman, Al Madina Investment and Gulf Investment were down by 5.63 per cent, 4.21 per cent, 4.17 per cent, 4.17 per cent and 3.23 per cent respectively.
Industrial Index closed at 3,981.33 points, down 0.17 per cent. Galfar Engineering, Raysut Cement and Oman Cement were up by 2.13 per cent, 0.62 per cent and 0.43 per cent respectively. Al Maha Ceramics, Al Jazeera Steel and Al Anwar Ceramic were down by 2.25 per cent, 2.04 per cent and 1.42 per cent.
Services index was down 0.09 per cent before closing at 1,571.07 points. Muscat Gases and National Gas were up 6.7 per cent and 3.56 per cent respectively. SMN Power, Al Batinah Power, Al Suwadi Power, Dhofar Generating and Al Jazeera Service were down by 6.67 per cent, 1.92 per cent, 1.89 per cent, 1.76 per cent and 1.18 per cent.
