Baltimore: The total number of people infected by COVID-19 across the world has now crossed 10 million, since the disease first broke out, according to data from Johns Hopkins University.
According to the university’s Center for Systems Science and Engineering, there are 10,015,904 confirmed cases of the disease around the world.
The United States has the maximum number of cases so far, at 2.51 million, followed by Brazil at 1.3 million. Russia is third (633,542), India is fourth (528,859), and Great Britain rounds off the top five with 311,739 cases.
The total number of deaths from the disease is just short of half a million, at 499,486. The maximum number of people to have died from the disease are in the US (125,559), followed by Brazil (57,070).
43,598 people in the UK have died from the disease, while another 34,716 deaths have been reported in Italy. France has so far recorded 29,781 deaths from COVID-19.
