COVID-19 recovery rate across Muscat more than doubles

Muscat: The rate of patients recovering from COVID-19 in the Governorate of Muscat has more than doubled in the last week.
Government data shows that across the wilayats of Muttrah, Boushar and Seeb – the ones that where most of the COVID-19 cases in the country have been reported – have posted recovery rates that are about two and a half times more than what they were on 6 June.
According to the Tarassud app, which was launched by the Ministry of Health and provides updates on the coronavirus situation in Oman and the rest of the world, Wilayat of Muttrah, which has the most number of cases in the country at 5,422, posted a total of 1,239 recoveries as of 6 June, a number which shot up to 2,855 a week later, leading to a recovery rate that is 2.3 times more than it previously was.
Similarly, in Wilayat Seeb, which had 5,270 reported cases as of 13 June, the total number of reported recoveries stood at 300, as of 6 June. It rose to 1,050 by the 13th, pointing to a threefold increase in the number of people who’d recovered from the disease.
In Wilayat Baushar, recoveries rose from 370 patients on 6 June to 822 on the 13th, reflecting a 2.2 fold increase in the recovery rate.
Fewer numbers of cases have been seen in the Wilayats of Quriyat, Muscat and Amerat, but the recovery rates there have increased as well.
Wilayat Muscat saw a recovery of just 12 patients by 6 June, but that had shot up to 83 by the 13th. In Amerat, where only 30 patients had recovered by 6 June, it jumped to 170 reported recoveries by yesterday.
Although the recovery rate in Quriyat continues to remain relatively low, increasing from seven cases last week to 10 by yesterday, the number of people infected with COVID-19 in that wilayat is also low, with a total of just 130 cases reported there since the outbreak of the disease was first announced in Oman.
