Oman's share index ends marginally lower

Oman's share index ends marginally lower

The MSM30 index closed at 3,535.01 points, down 0.15 per cent from the previous close. The Sharia Index ended up by 0.04 per cent at 517.94 points. Gulf Investment, up 3.51 per cent was the top gainer while Al Madina Investment, down 4.35 per cent was the top loser. National Bank of Oman was the most active in terms of the number of shares traded while Bank Muscat was the most active in terms of turnover.
A total number of 379 trades were executed during the day's trading session, generating a turnover of OMR1.27 million, with more than 6.4 million shares changing hands. Out of 33 traded stocks, 6 advanced, 8 declined and 19 remained unchanged. At the session close, foreign investors were net sellers for OMR226,000 while local investors were net buyers for OMR225,000 followed by local GCC & Arab for OMR1,000 worth of shares.
Financial Index closed at 5,560.09 points, down 0.26 per cent. Gulf Investment and National Bank of Oman were up by 3.51 per cent and 1.27 per cent respectively. Al Madina Investment, Al Anwar Holding, Sohar International Bank, Oman United Insurance, and Bank Muscat were down by 4.35 per cent, 1.43 per cent, 1.20 per cent, 1.16 per cent and 0.64 per cent respectively.
Industrial Index closed at 4,071.68 points, up 0.33 per cent. Raysut Cement and Oman Flour Mills were up by 2.33 per cent and 1.00 per cent respectively.
Services index was down 0.14 per cent before closing at 1,608.29 points. Oman Oil was up by 0.66 per cent. Phoenix Power, Al Suwadi Power and National Gas were down by 1.85 per cent, 1.75 per cent and 1.14 per cent respectively.
