Water level up but Salalah, Sahalnout dams safe

Salalah: Salalah flood protection dam held an estimated 15 million cubic meters of rainwater until Monday morning, said Dr. Khalid bin Salim Al Meshaikhi, Assistant Director General for Dams Affairs at the Ministry of Regional Municipalities and Water Resources.
He pointed out that the dam's capacity is 77.2 million cubic meters.
In a statement to Oman News Agency, Dr. Khalid added that Sahalnout dam is still full of rainwater.
The dam overflew from the main discharge and the dam was opened as a routine measure to absorb additional volumes of rainwater.
He affirmed that the current situation does not pose any threat and the excess rainwater flow on the path of the wadi (valley) normally. He pointed out that the dam's capacity is 6.7 million cubic meters.
Al-Meshaikhi affirmed that the dams are well-designed to hold floods and excess rainwater caused by cyclones or heavy rainfall.
