Muscat: The number of Omanis registered in pension/retirement funds of the public sector (Civil Service, Diwan of Royal Court and Central Bank of Oman) during March 2020 fell by 0.2 per cent to 201,850 compared to its February numbers according to National Centre for Statistics and Information (NCSI) data.
117,858 of them were males and 83,992 females.
Preliminary statistics show that there are five subscription-based segments registered in different wage bands.
The first segment, a total of 60,883 registered Omanis registered in public sector funds, receives salaries ranging from OMR1,000 to less than OMR2,000.
The second segment (37,548) receives OMR700 to less than OMR800.
The third segment (30,152) receives between OMR800 and less than OMR900.
The fourth segment (20,202) receives between OMR600 and less than OMR700.
The fifth segment (16,389) receives between OMR500 and less than OMR600.
Statistics also point to three more sets of beneficiaries whose wage bands are indicated as follows:
The first segment, comprising 18,827 beneficiaries including 16,838 men and 1,989 women, receives wages ranging between OMR325 to less than OMR400.
The second segment, a total of 4,711 including 4,228 men and 483 women receives salaries ranging between OMR400 to less than OMR500.
The third segment, comprising 6,013 beneficiaries including 4,153 men and 1,860 women receives salaries of OMR2,000 or more.
Age-wise, statistics show that Omanis registered in the above-mentioned public sector funds fall in 11 segments including: 146 beneficiaries aged 65 years and above, 743 beneficiaries aged 60-64 years, 7,434 beneficiaries aged 55-59 years, 11,589 beneficiaries aged 50-54 years, 20,563 beneficiaries aged 45-49 years, 39,798 beneficiaries aged 40-44 years, 53,992 beneficiaries aged 35-39 years, 45,653 beneficiaries aged 30-34 years, 18,942 beneficiaries aged 25-29 years, 2,983 beneficiaries aged 20-24 years and 18 beneficiaries aged 15-19 years.
As for Omanis working in the private sector and insured at the Public Authority for Social Insurance and Petroleum Development Oman, statistics issued by the NCSI show that their number stands at 259,266 by the end of the first quarter of this year.
This is an increase of 0.5 per cent over the figure of the corresponding period in 2019 (262,333).
Wage-wise, insured Omani private sector employees fall in five categories as indicated below:
28.1 per cent of them (72,976) receive salaries ranging between OMR325 to less than OMR400.
20.9 per cent of them (54,178) receive salaries ranging between OMR400 to less than OMR500.
11.6 per cent of them (30,175) receive salaries ranging between OMR500 to less than OMR600.
12.5 per cent of them (32,290) receive salaries ranging between OMR1,000 to less than OMR2,000.
15,078 Omanis receive salaries of more than 2,000.
