Intensity of tropical depression to decline from Monday evening: PACA

Muscat: Weather charts expect a decline in the intensity of tropical conditions gradually from Monday evening, the Public Authority for Civil Aviation (PACA) said in its latest alert.

According to the PACA alert, heavy rains still continue in Dhofar Governorate and it will be concentrated on the western side of the governorate and desert areas. The rainfall amounts may range between 100 and 200 mm in the next 24 hours.

PACA, in Alert No. 3 said, "Previous weather charts indicated that the tropical depression concentrated on the western side of Dhofar governorate and the surface wind speeds around the centre between 14 and 23 knots and could move to the west in the coming hours."

"Heavy rains will continue during next 24 hours, associated with fresh winds and flooding over low and coastal areas and an increase in Wadis flow with a reduction in horizontal visibility," PACA added.

"Chances of cloud advection and isolated rain in parts of Al Wusta governorate and sea conditions will be rough along with governorates of Dhofar, Al Wusta and South Al Sharqiyah."
