Oman's share index ends marginally lower

Oman's share index ends marginally lower

The MSM30 index closed at 3,427.12 points, down 0.30 per cent from previous close. The Sharia Index ended lower by 0.72 per cent at 510.33 points. Gulf International Chemicals, up 6.00 per cent was the top gainer today while Oman National Engineering, down 4.76 per cent was the top loser. Al Anwar Ceramic Tiles was the most active in terms of number of shares traded while Bank Muscat was the most active in terms of turnover.
A total number of 432 trades were executed during the day's trading session, generating turnover of OMR1.17 million, with more than 5.89 million shares changing hands. Out of 29 traded stocks, 9 advanced, 10 declined and 29 remained unchanged. At the session close, domestic investors were net buyers for OMR763,000 while domestic investors were net buyers for OMR735,000 followed by GCC & Arab investors for OMR28,000 worth of shares.
Financial Index closed at 5,371.97 points, up 0.12 per cent. Gulf Investment Services Holding, Oman & Emirates Investment Holding, Al Sharqia Investment Holding, and Sohar International Bank were up by 5.77 per cent, 2.38 per cent, 1.56 per cent, and 1.27 per cent respectively. Al Madina Takaful, Al Omaniya Financial Services, Oman United Insurance, and Bank Muscat were down by 1.49 per cent, 1.41 per cent, 1.32 per cent, and 0.63 per cent respectively.
Industrial Index closed at 4,027.60 points, up 0.05 per cent. Gulf International Chemicals, Oman Fisheries, Al Anwar Ceramic Tiles, and Oman Cement were up by 6 per cent, 2.38 per cent, 2.31 per cent, and 1.74 per cent respectively. Oman Flour Mills was down by 3.41 per cent.
Services index was down 0.34 per cent before closing at 1,616.48 points. Phoenix Power was up by 1.82 per cent. Oman National Engineering, Ooredoo Oman, Omantel, Musandam Power, and OIFC were down by 4.76 per cent, 2.5 per cent, 1.92 per cent, 1.4 per cent, and 1.25 per cent respectively.
