Coronavirus: More than 2000 reports received by Consumer Protection

Muscat: The Public Authority of Consumer Protection has received more than 2000 reports related to price hikes and sale of goods in violation of specifications.

Between February 25 and April 5, the authority received 2,300 reports from various consumers, as part of its continuous efforts to ensure market stability and to catch violators since the start of the Coronavirus crisis.

Khalid Al Anqudi, the Head of PACP Call Centre said, "We receive reports related to price hikes for some goods and sale of goods that violate specifications and standards, refusal to provide a service and non-provision of the purchase bills. All violators were arrested and dealt with according to the applicable legal procedures."

In addition to the call centre, the authority also receives communications via social media accounts.
