Oman's share index ends marginally higher

The MSM30 index closed at 3,385.84 points, up 0.07 per cent. The Sharia Index closed up by 0.02 per cent at 501.03 points. Ominvest, up 6.62 per cent, was the top gainer while Renaissance Services, down 9.80 per cent was the top loser. Bank Muscat was the most active in terms of number of shares traded as well as turnover.
A total number of 230 trades were executed during the day's trading session, generating turnover of OMR615,000, with more than 3.15 million shares changing hands. Out of 23 traded stocks, 8 advanced, 7 declined and 8 remained unchanged. At the session close, domestic investors were net buyers for OMR93,000 while foreign investors were net sellers for OMR68,000 followed by GCC and Arab investors for OMR25,000 worth of shares.
Financial Index closed at 5,411.76 points, up 0.94 per cent. Ominvest, Al Madina Investment, Al Anwar Holding, Bank Muscat, and Bank Nizwa were up by 6.62 per cent, 5.00 per cent, 2.99 per cent, 1.31 per cent, and 1.12 per cent respectively. Sohar International Bank was the only loser and was down by 1.23 per cent.
Industrial Index closed at 3,803.88 points, down 0.39 per cent. Oman Cement and Galfar Engineering were up by 2.82 per cent and 2.27 per cent respectively. Raysut Cement and Al Jazeera Steel Products were down by 6.59 per cent and 3.00 per cent respectively.
Services index was down 0.96 per cent before closing at 1,659.79 points. Al Suwadi Power was the only gainer from the sector. Renaissance Services, United Power, Omantel, and Ooredoo were down by 9.8 per cent, 5.71 per cent, 1.4 per cent, and 0.51 per cent respectively.
