A guide to what’s open and what’s closed in Oman right now

People who wish to know which shops are still open in Oman can consult the guidelines published by the Ministry of Regional Municipalities and Water Resources (MRMWR).

Shops that have temporarily closed to stop the spread of COVID-19 include:

  1. Barber shops, health clubs, gyms, game parlours, hairdressing stores, stores that sell auto parts and accessories, furniture stores, and shops that sell luxury goods
  2. Laundries, dry cleaners, tyre shops, flower and gift shops, tailors, clothes and textile stores, book stores, stationary shops, printing services, and shops selling mobile phones and phone cards.
  3. Gold and jewellery stores, electronic stores, tobacco products stores, open air markets, and souqs such as Muttrah and Nizwa souqs and weekly gatherings such as the Friday market
  4. Consultancy offices, libraries, transaction houses, manpower recruitment offices, stores selling building materials

Shops and facilities that have not been closed:

  1. Stores selling food stuff, restaurants, cafes, mobile cafes (only for takeaway and delivery), medical clinics, veterinary clinics, pharmacies, opticians, gas delivery services, and gas stations
  2. Bakeries, water manufacturers and vendors, candy and Halwa stores, food industries, animal feed and grain stores, meat and poultry stores, sweets and nuts shops, and fish stores.
  3. Ice cream parlours, vegetable and fruit stores, juice shops (only for takeaway and delivery), shops selling mashakeek, grain mills, honey vendors, date vendors, and livestock and poultry breeders
