Oman's share index ends marginally higher

Oman's share index ends marginally higher

The MSM30 index closed at 3,556.07 points, up 0.06 per cent from Tuesday’s close. The Sharia Index closed up 0.01 per cent at 508.85 points. Al Jazeera Services, up 7.14 per cent, was the top gainer while Ooredoo Oman, down 3.85 per cent was the top loser. National Bank of Oman was the most active in terms of number of shares traded while Bank Muscat was the most active in terms of turnover.
A total number of 360 trades were executed during the day's trading session, generating a turnover of OMR1.38 million with more than 7.19 million shares changing hands. Out of 33 traded stocks, 15 advanced, 4 declined and 14 remained unchanged. At the session close, GCC & Arab investors were net sellers for OMR154,000 while foreign investors were net buyers for OMR89,000 followed by domestic investors for OMR65,000 worth of shares.
Financial Index closed at 5,643.09 points, down 0.01 per cent. Al Madina Takaful, Oman United Insurance, Al Anwar Holding, National Bank of Oman, and Sohar International Bank were up by 4.41 per cent, 3.57 per cent, 3.28 per cent, 1.69 per cent, and 1.2 per cent respectively. Bank Muscat and HSBC Bank Oman were down by 2.81 per cent, and 1.87 per cent respectively.
Industrial Index closed at 3,975.40, and added 0.66 per cent to Tuesday’s closing. Al Jazeera Steel Products, Raysut Cement, and Galfar Engineering were up by 6.32 per cent, 4.73 per cent, and 2.22 per cent respectively. There were no losers from the sector.
Services index was up 0.65 per cent before closing at 1,688.63 points. Al Jazeera Services, OIFC, Renaissance Services, Omantel, and Al Suwadi Power were up by 7.14 per cent, 4.6 per cent, 2.78 per cent, 2.7 per cent, and 1.89 per cent respectively. Ooredoo and Musandam Power were down by 3.85 per cent and 3.1 per cent respectively.
