More rains expected in Oman this week

Muscat: Heavy thundershowers are expected over several parts of the country, which could cause flash floods and hail, the country’s Public Authority for Civil Aviation (PACA), has announced.
The low pressure Al Rahmah Trough will continue to affect the Sultanate until Monday 23rd March 2020.
Due to the expected heavy amounts of rainfall leading to thundershowers (30-60mm), associated with fresh downdraft winds, hail precipitation, flow of some wadis (flash floods) and poor visibility over the governorates of Musandam, Al Buraimi, Al Dakhiliyah, Muscat and North Al Sharqiyah as well as parts of Dhofar and Al Wusta governorates, the Public Authority for Civil Aviation advices all to take precautions during rain and while travelling through wadis, and to check the visibility and sea states before sailing and follow the instructions of the Supreme Committee for dealing with COVID-19, to sta home and never leave, unless it is necessary.”
PACA added: “The weather analysis of the National Multi Hazard Early Warning Centre indicates that a trough of low pressure Al Rahmah Trough will continue to affect the Sultanate till Monday 23rd March 2020.”
“It is expected that a varied intensity of rainfall and occasional thundershowers associated with fresh wind and hail will continue over governorates of Musandam, Al Buraimi, Al Dhahirah, North Al Batinah, South Al Batinah, Al Dakhliya, Muscat, North Al Sharqiyah, South Al Sharqiyah and parts of Al Wusta and Dhofar.”
“There will be southeasterly wind over Al Wusta, Dhofar, Al Dakhliyah and Al Dhahirah governorates during Sunday 22nd March 2020 which will cause rising of dust, followed north-westerly wind over parts of the Sultanate,” the statement added.
