Muscat: The Public Authority for Consumer Protection (PACP), represented by the Department of Seeb, has intensified its inspection campaigns at markets, pharmacies and stores selling sanitary ware, in order to reduce price manipulation
The inspection campaign comes in light of the exceptional circumstances experienced in the Sultanate with the COVID-19 global pandemic and to prevent sellers using it to raise prices.
Zaid Al Wahibi, Director of the PACP Department at Seeb said: "The administration has formed a team of judicial control officials to scan all commodity prices in the markets at the present time."
"This is to ensure that consumers' rights are preserved and that they are not subject to commercial fraud," he said. Al Wahaibi also called on consumers to report any violations that they may detect in the market and to contact the authority through various communication channels including the free consumer line.
Al Wahaibi pointed out that a number of violations had been detected already in this regard and legal measures had been taken against them including the imposition of financial fines as per exisiting laws.
