Motorsport: ISG student secures top spot at Rotax Max Challenge

MUSCAT: Oman’s latest driving sensation Shonal Kunimal from India School Al Ghubrah put in a strong performance to take the first place at the second round of the 2018-19 Rotax Max Challenge in the Bambino category for 5-8 year olds held at the Grand Final Circuit in Al Ain Raceway Abu Dhabi during the weekend.
Kunimal who is the 2017-18 UAE Rotax Max Challenge Championship overall champion clocked a time of 1:28.673 sec in heat one followed by 1:27.528 secs in the second heat and in the third heat he secured a timing of 1:28.710 secs finishing the fourth and final heat with a best time of 1:29.785 secs to garner a maximum 79 points and the top position.
Kunimal was followed by Omani driver Adam Awan in second place and Greek national Leonidas Peruzzi in the third place.
There are another six more rounds to go UAE Rotax Max Challenge Championship.
Kunimal is now preparing for the second round of the IAME X30 Championship which will be held at Ras Al Khaima on October 26.
