Oman’s request for visa waiver to EU will be discussed: Hannah

Muscat: Hannah Neuman, Chairperson of the European Parliament’s Delegation for relations with the Arab Peninsula (DARP) reaffirmed that the Sultanate’s request for exemption of Omani citizens from entry visa to the European Countries (Visa waiver) would be discussed and that the Sultanate would have priority in exemption.
The statement came when Hannah Neuman, chairperson of DARP was received by Sheikh Khalid bin Hilal Al Ma’awali, Chairman of Majlis Al Shura, yesterday.
Hannah Neuman is currently on a visit to the Sultanate, during which she will meet with a number of officials.
During the meeting, the Shura chief praised the efforts and initiatives of the European Parliament, associated with a number of current issues in the region. He also stressed the significance of the parliamentary relations between Majlis and the European Parliament and the exchanged visits between them. He also reaffirmed that the Majlis is planning to form a friendship group which would boost cooperation between the two sides. The group would support cooperation and coordination between the European Parliament and the Council of Oman, he said.
Chairman of Majlis also briefed the delegation on the history of Majlis during the past decades. He also spoke on the role of Majlis and its participation in decision making process.
Hannah Neuman reaffirmed the deep-rooted relations with the Arabian Peninsula and expressed her delight over the visit to the Sultanate and to Majlis.
