Customer gets OMR10,000 refund for damaged car

Muscat: A case involving a defective vehicle was resolved with a OMR10,058 settlement according to the Public Authority for Consumer Protection (PACP).

The PACP received a complaint from a consumer stating that they had purchased a new vehicle, only for their purchase to be damaged in the front upon delivery. After returning the vehicle, the customer lodged a complaint with the PACP demanding the car be replaced or refunded.

Authorities at the PACP summoned the dealership's agent, and when confronted with the complaint a settlement was agreed upon between both parties. In exchange for the car, the dealership agreed to return the amount the customer paid for the vehicle, which totalled OMR10,058.

The settlement was achieved in accordance with Article 25 of the consumer protection law, which states, "the supplier shall be obliged to return, refund, repair or repair the goods free of charge, if the consumer finds fault with them."
