Muscat: A book called The Eyes of Darkness, which was written by author Dean Koontz, has caught social media by storm after it predicted the emergence of the novel coronavirus way back in 1981.

In the suspense thriller novel, Koontz refers to a man made strain called 'Wuhan 400', named so because it was created by scientists in a lab in the city, with the purpose of infecting only humans.
"They call the stuff Wuhan-400 because it was developed in their RDNA labs outside of the city of Wuhan, and it was the four hundredth viable strain of man made microorganisms created at that centre," wrote Koontz in his book. "Wuhan-400 is a perfect weapon. It afflicts only human beings. No other creature can carry it."
In response to this discovery, Twitter users chimed in with their own comments.
"Yes! Someone is noticing Dean," said one user. "I've been an avid reader of his for decades. I haven't gone back and re-read his books but think of similarities after "waking up'. I think he will go down in history for the foreshadowing his books provide. I'm fairly certain/hope he's a good guy."
"Whether it's Russia or China in the book, he got the info right," added another. "Author licence to change names in fiction."
