Over 200,000 Omanis registered in public sector pension funds

Muscat: Muscat: The number of pensioners registered with public sector pension funds in the Sultanate in November 2019 stood at 201,846, comprising a rise by 0.1 per cent compared to June 2019.
According to the latest data released by the National Centre for Statistics and Information (NCSI), the total number of pensioners in November 2019 included 118,954 males and 82,910 females.
According to category of wages subject to contribution, the highest number of pensioners was in the wage category from OMR1,000 to less than OMR2,000. This was followed by the category from OMR700 to less than OMR800, stood at 35,840.
The number of pensioners with wages from OMR800 to less than OMR900 rose by 0.1% to stood at 31,784. There were 20,131 pensioners with wages ranging from OMR325 to less than OMR400, 16,633 pensioners with wages from OMR500 to less than OMR600 and those with wages from OMR600 to less than OMR700 was 20,339.
The lowest number of pensioners was in the wage category from OMR2,000 and above, reaching 4,896.
Age category
By age category, pensioners between 35 and 39 years topped the list, reaching 53,708, followed by those between 30 and 34 years, reaching 46,970 pensioners.
This was followed by those between 40 and 44 years and those between 45 and 49, to reach 38,489 and 20,342, respectively.
