TRC organises workshop on academic platforms

Ibra: The Social Observatory Research Program of The Research Council (TRC) inaugurated its first research activities for this year by implementing a workshop for academics and researchers from various higher education institutions in the Governorate of North A'Sharqiya at Ibra College of Technology in early January.

Dr. Said bin Sulaiman Al Dhafri, Head of the program, presented a workshop on “Academic Platforms: Strategies for Research Excellence” in which he reviewed the most important academic platforms for researchers and academics as a way to spread knowledge, share the results of scientific research, and introduce researchers from different countries of the world to the most prominent scientific results that researchers reached in various higher education institutions in the Sultanate.

The workshop touched on a large number of statistics related to the research exhaustion of researchers internationally, and the evaluation mechanisms that research platforms follow to evaluate research contributions, in addition to discussing influencing factors for scientific journals and researchers.

The workshop also included clarifying the mechanism of participation in these academic platforms, strategies for updating data in them, ways of interacting with its users, and how to build research relationships that enhance joint research and scientific projects.

The workshop also focused on reviewing the most prominent features of academic platforms such as ‘ResearchGate’ and ‘Academia’ in addition to the Arabic platform ‘ARID’, which is the first Arab platform that provides a scientific and research gathering for researchers who publish scientific research in the Arabic language from various countries of the world.

These workshops, organized by the Social Observatory, are part of achieving the goals of TRC that includes building research capacity and spreading the culture of scientific research in the various academic education institutions in the Sultanate.
