Firms in Oman must submit vacancy details to National Employment Centre

Muscat: All organisations that have vacancies that need to be filled must register them with the National Employment Centre (NEC), so that it can add these to the pool of jobs that are required to be filled by Omani nationals. The move comes as the NEC attempts to reinforce its efforts towards employing the national workforce, provide them employment opportunities, and fill vacancies as needed in organisations. In a statement, the National Employment Centre said, “The NEC would like to inform all institutions the importance of their commitment towards providing the Centre with all their vacancies, jobs and occupations that need to be filled, to enhance and integrate the efforts of operating the national workforce, and enable employment pathways, which will help keep pace with citizens’ aspirations.” Those institutions that are willing to have their job opportunities listed or announced by the NEC must contact the Centre, either through email, on [email protected], or on its telephone numbers 2422-7025 and 2422-7017. The decision to list all vacancies on the NEC’s job boards came as part of Royal Decree No. 2019/22, of which the fifth article states, “All units of the State’s administrative, civil, military, and security apparatus, and private sector establishments, are obliged to provide the National Employment Centre with vacancies, jobs and occupations to be filled in coordination with the competent authorities.”
