Travelling to India? You might not be able to buy as much at duty free

New Delhi: Indian nationals in Oman who’re travelling home to India will soon be able to only buy a single litre of spirits and just 100 cigarettes, if the new plans being discussed by the country’s Ministry of Commerce and Industry come through.

Indian media reports have stated that under these new regulations, passengers who land in India from overseas trips will only be able to purchase a litre of spirits, and up to 100 cigarettes, which is in line with regulations in some other countries.

Currently, passengers who arrive in India from overseas can purchase two litres of liquor and 100 for personal consumption. The number of cigarettes had been previously cut from 200 to 100. The value of goods should also not exceed INR 50,000 (OMR 270).
