Oman, Singapore sign MoUs on vocational training, climate

Muscat: The Sultanate, represented by the Ministry of Environment and Climate Affairs and the Ministry of Manpower, yesterday signed memoranda of understanding (MoU) with the Republic of Singapore on environment and vocational training.
The first MoU on environment was signed by Mohammed bin Salim Al Toobi, Minister of Environment and Climate Affairs and Masagos Zulkifli, Minister of the Environment and Water Resources in Singapore.
The Minister of Environment and Climate Affairs said that the MoU between Singapore and the Sultanate in the field of environment is related to the exchange of views and expertise in the field of environment, climate affairs and nature conservation.
He added that the MoU will enhance the existing cooperation between the two sides in this field.
The second MoU in the field of vocational training was signed by Dr. Muna bint Salim Al Jardaniyah, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Manpower for Technical Education and Vocational Training and Bruce Poh, CEO of Institute of Technical Education in Singapore.
Dr. Al Jardaniyah said that the MoU covers cooperation between the two sides in the field of vocational training.
She said that the MoU provides for sharing experiences between the two countries in the field of vocational training.
She added that Oman has developed vocational training and education system, which now attracts students, thanks to its student-friendly environment.
The MoU signing ceremony was attended by Sayyid Badr bin Hamad Al Busaidi, secretary general of the foreign ministry, Teo Chee Hean, Deputy Prime Minister and Coordinating Minister for National Security in Singapore, Omani and Singaporean officials.

Sayyid Badr bin Hamad bin Hamoud Al Busaidi, Secretary General of the Foreign Ministry held a meeting with Teo Chee Hean, Deputy Prime Minister, Coordinating Minister for National Security of Singapore and his accompanying delegation.
Sayyid Badr reviewed the strong relation between the Sultanate and Singapore, as well as economic and educational cooperation and investment opportunities between the two countries and exchanging experiences in aspects related to technical education, environment, research, studies and other fields.
The two sides also touched on security and geostrategic issues and challenges of common concern.
