French Elysee mourns HM Sultan Qaboos

Paris: The French President's Office, the Elysee Palace, issued a statement in which it mourned His Majesty Sultan Qaboos bin Said bin Taimour. The statement reads as follows:

“His Majesty Sultan Qaboos bin Said Al Said passed away yesterday. Sultan Qaboos was well-known for developing and modernising his country while at the same time respecting its traditions and values."

“The Omani people lost a high-spirited, cultural conscious man, who is also deeply linked to his Omani roots at the same time open to the world, particularly France, which he knew very well."

“In times of troubles, Sultan Qaboos was able to rise to the expectations of his people. He was a man of peace. He worked tirelessly for resolving regional disputes and alleviating tensions. He never stopped promoting principles of reconciliation and mutual tolerance."

"The President of the French Republic extends to the family of Sultan Qaboos and to the Omani authorities and Omani people his deep sympathies and reaffirms his own friendship and the friendship of the French people to the Omani people.”
