Rains forecast over most parts of Oman

Muscat: There will be partly cloudy to cloudy skies over Musandam, Al Buraimi, North Al Batinah, South Al Batinah, Al Dhahirah, Muscat and Al Dakhiliyah governorates with chances of rain and occasional thundershowers associated with fresh winds and hail, Oman’s Public Authority of Civil Aviation (PACA), said on Friday.

Clear to partly cloudy skies over the rest of the Sultanate with chances of late night to early morning low level clouds or fog over parts of Al Wusta and Dhofar governorates, PACA forecast.

A statement issued online by PACA said: “The aerial photograph shows the continued intensification of clouds and varying rainfall, with sporadically varying abundance, over the governorates of Musandam, Al Buraimi, North and South Al Batinah, Al Dhahirah, Muscat and Al Dakhiliyah.”

Medium to heavy rainfall was recorded in the governorates of Musandam, Al Buraimi, Northern Al Batinah, and in the welayat of Yanqul in Al Dhahirah Governorate. Rains continued on Friday morning.

The amount of rainfall recorded in the meteorological stations since Thursday till Friday morning at 7:00 am are Mahda which recorded 11.6 mm (highest), Dhank - 11.2 mm, Al Buraimi - 9.8 mm, Liwa - 7.0 mm, Al Senainah - 6.6 mm, Bukha - 6.6 mm, Dibba - 6.4 mm, Shinas - 5.6 mm, Sohar - 5.2 mm, Madha - 5.2 mm, Saham - 5.2 mm, Yanqul - 4.4 mm, Majees - 4.0 mm and the lowest station is Siq with 2.4 mm of rainfall.
