More than OMR 1 million refunded to consumers in Oman

Muscat: The Public Authority for Consumer Protection (PACP) in Al Seeb has managed to recover OMR 1087,423.168 for a number of consumers during 2018 and 2019, according to the department's statistical indicators report.

In a statement issued, PACP said: “The refunds were distributed in a friendly settlement over a number of sectors, foremost among which was the construction and building materials sector, with a return of OMR 327,116.64, second the labour services sector, with a total of OMR 421,695.5, then the furniture and furnishings sector and its services, with a total of RO 59,458.8, then the electrical appliances and electronic devices sector, with a return of OMR 49,278.3.”

“In the vehicle repair shops sector, a total OMR 55,855 was retrieved, and retrieval of OMR 43,915,728 in the aluminum, blacksmith and carpentry workshop, OMR 130,103.2 were also recovered in the other sectors.” The statement added

Ziad Al Wahaibi, manager of the Consumer Protection Department in Al seeb, said: “All complaints, violations and reports were dealt with by taking the necessary measures as stipulated by the Consumer Protection Law and other decisions related to consumer protection.”
