Court in Oman orders to shutdown printing press

Muscat: A court in Sohar ordered to permanently shutdown a printing press and jailed the owner for violating the consumer laws.

According to the Public Authority for Consumer Protection (PACP), “a consumer filed a complaint against the printing press with whom he agreed to print bags in a specific period of time and the agreement was to implement the service for an amount of OMR 650, and he paid OMR 350 as a deposit.”

However, the company failed to supply the goods and did not return the deposited amount. “After investigations, PACP referred the case to the judicial authority who ruled against the company. A fine of OMR 500 was imposed along with a two month jail term and the company was permanently closed down,” PACP said.

“The court also ruled the company to return the deposit and also ordered him to pay OMR 250 towards his expenses,” PACP added.
