Muscat: Rakhyut Hospital and the Emergency Unit for adults and children in Salalah's Sultan Qaboos Hospital will be closed until further notice, ahead of Cyclone Luban's effects on the governorate of Dhofar.
Oman's Ministry of Heath issued a statement on Friday that said: "The Directorate General of Health Service of Dhofar Governorate would like to draw attention of all citizens and residents in Dhofar, that the Accidents and Emergency Unit for adults and children in the Sultan Qaboos Hospital will be closed."
Instead, Salalah Heart Centre will receive emergency cases for adults, while the Armed Forces Hospital in Salalah will receive emergency cases of children and childbirth along with the emergency cases from nearby areas.
"According to the directives issued by the Sub-committee of Civil Defence to evacuate the city of Rakhyut and those who are living in the coastal and low-lying areas that are exposed to wadis, the directorate has decided to close Rakhyut hospital from Thursday until further notice."
Alternatively, the Shahb As'eeb Health Center and accommodation center at Shirshity School will provide the health services for those who need it.
