Four accused rapists shot during escape in India

Hyderabad: The Telangana police on Friday morning shot at and killed four people accused in the horrific rape and murder of a 25-year-old veterinarian when they tried to escape.

According to the police, the four had been taken to the crime spot near Shadnagar, around 50 kilometres from the capital city of Hyderabad in Telangana, a newly formed state of India.

Cyberabad Police Commissioner VC Sajjanar confirmed the shootout to local media.

The four, aged between 20 and 24, were truck drivers and cleaners and were arrested on November 29 for a crime which has generated outrage across the country and was even discussed by the Indian Parliament.
