Weather update: Two deep tropical depressions in Arabian Sea

Muscat: The edges of the Arabian Sea are witnessing two deep tropical depressions with a deep tropical air depression in the southwest, and a deep tropical air depression in the southeast of the Arabian Sea.

A statement issued by the Public Authority for Civil Aviation (PACA), said: “A tropical depression east of the Arabian Sea near the Indian coast was detected early Wednesday morning. After five hours, this tropical depression deepened on the east of the Arabian Sea to a deep tropical depression with wind speeds around the center between 28 and 32 knots as it moved west to northwest towards the center of the Arabian Sea."

“Continued movement of the deep tropical depression off the coast of the Somali Republic towards the west to the northwest towards the Horn of Africa,” PACA added.

An air depression in the Oman Sea since yesterday has impacted the coastal areas, Musandam and North Al Batinah governorates.

Sporadic rains ranging between light and medium, accompanied by strong winds and lightning, continue over Musandam from yesterday afternoon and led to the flow of some valleys in different areas of Musandam governorate.
