Volunteers website launched to mark Omani Volunteers’ Day

Muscat: A website to match the skills of volunteers and requirements of non-profit and charity organizations has been launched to mark the Omani Volunteers Day.

A youth-led initiative to bring people and causes together, omanvolunteers.org is an online platform that matches volunteers with suitable opportunities in the community, throughout the Sultanate.

“Our mission is to inspire and engage individuals and the community by facilitating access to future volunteering opportunities, and for public and private-led not-for-profit initiatives to find volunteers online,” said Eman Rafay, founder of the initiative.

The site allows people to search for projects that require specific skills in fields such as accounting, medical training, art, or animal welfare.

Samah Al Rawahy, head of communication for Oman Volunteers, said, “To me, volunteering means taking time out and doing something in the hope it will make a positive difference in someone else’s life or to the community we live in.”

“The power of volunteering has a much larger impact on society than most people think. It supersedes the individual to make tangible and lasting impact on communities for the greater benefit of the economy,” Stephane Jeegers, head of operations added.

Join the volunteers’ campaign on omanvolunteers.org, register online as a volunteer to find future volunteering opportunities or as a not-for-profit initiative looking for volunteers.
