Marella Discovery cruise returns to Oman

Muscat: For the third time this year, the ship Marella Discovery has arrived at the Sultan Qaboos Port with 4,000 passengers on board.

The Ministry said in a statement: "With 4,000 passengers aboard Marella Discovery ship arrived at the Sultan Qaboos Port for the third time during the current cruise season 2019/2020, where about 1400 passengers will be exchanged via Muscat International Airport and Port."

"Three direct flights from Gatwick, Manchester and Birmingham airports in the UK will land at #Muscat_International Airport where 700 passengers from the flights will swap places with 700 passengers of the ship," the Ministry added.

During their stay in the Sultanate, about two thousand passengers from the ship booked programs and tours in Muscat Governorate and nearby destinations through specialised travel and tourism companies. While some others preferred to use taxis or go for walks at the waterfront at Muttrah.

A Ministry official said: "We reached an agreement with the giant cruise ship Marella Discovery to conduct 27 visits to the ports of the Sultanate during the next tourist season 2020/2021, including 16 visits to Sultan Qaboos port, 8 visits to Khasab port and 3 visits to Salalah port."
