​Oman’s Environment Ministry plants 600 seedlings

Muscat: A total of 600 seedlings have been planted at Khor Al Mughsail and Awqad in the governorate of Dhofar, the Ministry of Environment and Climate Affairs (MECA) has announced.

The seedlings were planted as part of a campaign to rehabilitate the cities in Dhofar that were affected by cyclone Mekunu

In a statement online MECA said, "The Ministry, represented by the General Directorate of Nature Conservation, carried out a campaign to cultivate 600 seedlings of Avicennia plants (locally known as the Qurum trees) in cooperation with the Municipality of Dhofar.

"This campaign is part of the rehabilitation plan for Khor which was affected by Cyclone Mekunu. Specialists have planted 400 seedlings of the Avicennia plants in Al Mughsail and 200 seedlings in Awqad, the rest of the campaigns will be completed successively,” the Ministry added.
