More than 50 people rescued during tropical depression in Oman

Muscat: During the tropical depression early this week, the Public Authority for Civil Defence and Ambulance (PACDA) received 107 complaints and rescued 52 people stuck inside their car in wadis.
In a statement online, PACDA said: “Some drivers took the risk of crossing wadis in the governorates affected by the inclement weather. It led to a number of cases of people getting stuck inside their vehicles in wadis, and the teams managed to rescue as many as 52 of them. They also recorded the death of a citizen after he drifted away in his vehicle in the wilayat of Rustaq.”
The Water Rescue team received 40 calls from wadis and those surrounded by water, the highest from North Batinah Governorate with 25 cases.
The fire brigades dealt with 21 calls, while the ambulance teams responded to 44 calls, in addition to two calls of search and rescue teams. The specialised teams dealt with all the requests for rescue and relief.
