Located in the heart of Qurum and possibly the main attraction of its upscale suburb, the Qurum Natural Park has long been the leafy, beating green heart of this part of Muscat. Since its opening, Qurum Natural Park has been a popular spot for families and friends to spend pleasant evenings, with there being a number of attractions to suit all the members of the family.
While the sprawling park itself features plenty of lush, green trees, neatly manicured grass lawns, and a number of flowering shrubs that are an extremely pleasant sight after a day spent among the city’s concrete constructions, there is also acres of room for children to play around in, run wild with abandon, and experience the sort of happiness you only get from physical play.
A number of water features have also been included at Qurum Natural Park, including a man-made lake and a waterfall hewn into the rock, an installation that continues to delight many visitors over the years with its lovely lighting arrangement.
Qurum Park has also been a regular host of the Muscat Festival, which brought creative minds and artisans from around the world to Oman, and drew hundreds of thousands of people every day. Its vast, wide-open spaces and serene surroundings also made it the perfect location for many shows, including circuses that used to set up their tents in the park and perform a number of acrobatics, inspiring awe among those who had come to enjoy the show, as well as a daredevil motorcycle rider who performed a number of death-defying stunts as he aligned himself against the vertical face of a Wall of Death, a circular, cylindrical structure in which he relied on his own skills, and the friction his bike generated while circling around the wall, to enthral the audience.
Then there was the husband and wife balancing beam act, who began at opposite ends of a tightrope high above the ground, and proceeded to carefully make their way towards each other, with both of them carrying a balancing beam for support. Your heart couldn’t help but quicken its pulse as the duo came ever closer, wondering what would happen when it was time for them to cross each other.
