The Sultanate has been ranked first among Arab countries for food abundance and third in terms of food security for the year 2018.
Globally, Oman was ranked 29th in food security indicators measured for 113 countries.
The Global Food Security Classification includes four criteria: food availability, the ability to get food, stable food supply and food safety and quality.
"The Sultanate's food production in 2018 increased in all sectors, fish production increased by 59 per cent, plant production by 12.5 per cent and animal production increased by 8 per cent compared to 2017." - Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries
