Omani voters outside Sultanate begin voting for Shura Council polls

Muscat: Staff members of the Election Commission as well as Omani's staying abroad began casting their vote on Saturday for the Shura Council elections. The votes were cast through an app in electronic form.

The Election Commission said in a statement, "Voting begins from 8 am and lasts till 8 pm. Voting through the application is considered to be a technical leap in the process of elections, where voters abroad will be able to participate in the elections and unlike earlier where voting was limited to the electoral headquarters in embassies."

The application was launched by the Ministry of Interior earlier on mobile electronic platforms (Apple iStore and Google Play store) and will be used today by voters who meet all conditions that enable them to vote remotely.
