Over 11,000 private sector workers earned more than OMR2,000

Muscat: Around 11,132 workers in the private sector, out of a total of 252,132 received a salary of over OMR2,000 in 2018, according to an annual report of the National Center of Statistics and Information (NCSI).

A salary of over OMR2,000 in the private sector is a rare find. The NCSI data, which also bifurcated information according to gender, showed that 10,211 males got wages of around OMR2,000 whereas 1,414 females got the same amount.

Most Omani workers’ group wages are less than OMR600, whereas 78,000 people earned a salary between OMR 325 and 399. A total of 58,630 workers earn a salary between OMR400 and 499 and 27,189 got salary between OMR500 and 599.

In addition, 25,866 Omanis got wages between OMR1,000 and 1,999 while 50,784 people earned a salary between OMR600 and 999.

According to the NCSI report - by the end of 2018, 1,981,845 people were employed in the private sector, out of which 252,132 were Omani and over 1,700,000 were expats.
