Muscat: Former Italy striker and 2006 FIFA World Cup winner Alessandro Del Piero will visit Oman on Sunday as part of a promotional programme run by Omantel.

Del Piero is coming here to promote Omantel’s My World, a subscription-based service that provides streaming services and access to video games.

“Hi everyone, I am Alessandro Del Piero,” said the footballing legend in a video posted on social media. “I will be in Muscat at the Oman City Centre, next Sunday, October 13th, with Omantel sports! See you on Sunday! Ciao!”

Del Piero, 44, spent most of his career with Italian Serie A giants Juventus, where he spent 19 seasons, scoring 290 goals in 705 games to become the club’s highest scorer of all time. He was also one of five strikers in the Italy squad that travelled to Germany to win their fourth FIFA World Cup title in 2006, the other four being Francesco Totti, Vincenzo Iaquinta, Luca Toni and Filippo Inzaghi.

He was part of seven Italy squads, and represented the Azzurri at four European Championships (1996, 2000, 2004 and 2008), in addition to three World Cups – 1998, 2002 and 2006. For his country, he scored 27 goals in 91 games. He also had brief spells with Sydney FC in Australia, and Delhi Dynamos in the Indian Super League.

With Juve, Del Piero won six Serie A and one Serie B title, in addition to winning one Italian Cup, one Champions League, one Super Cup, one Intercontinental Cup, one UEFA Intertoto Cup and four Italian Super Cups.

“Omantel My World is a subscription portal that gives access to unlimited streaming & downloads of premium versions of games and streaming Videos and reading news available on the portal!” said Omantel. “Premium access is available via daily subscriptions.
