Graduation of fourth batch of early childhood diploma students celebrated

Muscat: Dar Al-Ata’a Association recently celebrated the graduation of the fourth intake of Montessori early childhood diploma students. It comes as part of the association’s empowerment program in partnership with Occidental Oman and National Montessori Nursery.

The Montessori Diploma aims to achieve a high level of professionalism. In learning the Montessori philosophy, trainees develop a complete set of educational systems and an in-depth understanding of child development psychology.

The ceremony was sponsored by Dr. Mona bint Salem Al Jardania, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Manpower for Technical Education and Vocational Training and was held in the presence of Stephen Kelly, President and General Manager of Occidental Oman.

In this program, 27 girls from the Omani women's associations who have a children’s group were enrolled in Bahla, Adam, Ibri and Muscat. Occidental Oman contributed to the grants for 25 girls, while the Montessori program provided free tuition for two girls.

The grants provided nine months of adequate housing, the allocation of a monthly financial allowance, and the provision of a computer, in addition to providing transport to and from the institute and to their states. The second phase included the processing and furnishing of a number of preparation classes for some schools which required support.

Mariam Bint Issa Al Zadjali, President of Dar Al-Ata’a Association, appreciated the efforts of Occidental Oman in always serving and providing for all sectors of society. The total cost of this project amounted to more than OMR173000.

She thanked the National Nursery to the Montessori for all their efforts and congratulated the graduates and wished them further progress and success.

“We are confident that the information and experience gained by the graduates during the school years will undoubtedly contribute to improving the level of services provided to children in the Omani women's associations,” Al Zadjali said.

The graduation, which took place at Al Noor Hall at Sultan Qaboos City, came after the students completed a theoretical and practical study in understanding the Montessori perspective of special education and various qualifying areas.

They also practiced how to deal with children with different capabilities and the preparation of educational materials appropriate for the development and growth of children.
