Six dead in multi-vehicle collision in Al Wusta

Muscat: Six people have died in a collision between two vehicles in the Al Wusta Governorate, the Royal Oman Police (ROP) announced.

According to police officials, the accident occurred near midnight on Friday, and resulted in the death of three citizens and three expatriates.

An ROP official said: "The accident occurred when a vehicle overturned and collided with another vehicle, and the subsequent collision resulted in the deaths of three citizens from the first vehicle and three expatriates who were in the second vehicle. Two children who were travelling with the expats have been injured.”

Among the deceased was an executive from the Sohar Port and Free Zone Company, his son, as well as another senior employee at the company.

Sohar Port and Free Zone put out a statement following the accident where they expressed their condolences to the family.

The statement read: "It is with great sorrow that we announce the untimely passing of Suwaid Al Shemaisi, executive manager of Corporate Affairs, his son, Said, and Mohamed Salim Al Mamari, senior accountant. Our deepest condolences go to their families in this difficult time, and we ask God to envelop the deceased in his mercy and to grant their family patience and fortitude during this time.”
