Indian customs shares bizarre smuggling attempts

They say when you really put your mind to something, you can achieve it.

That is unless you are planning something nefarious. In that case, sometimes you win but mostly you lose.

But that does not mean that people shy away from coming up with ingenious ways to beg, borrow and steal to make a profit.

Given that inflation and daily living costs are going through the roof in most countries, people are coming up with new and improved ways to steal.

Take for example the events shared by Delhi Customs in India.

On Thursday, 12 September, they sent out a tweet that claimed that they had confiscated eight bars of gold from an Indian passenger who was travelling from Dubai. And where was the gold hidden? In that part of his body where the sun don’t shine.

A day before, on Wednesday, the agency tweeted that it confiscated 984 grams of gold — hat was mixed in with chemicals — from a passenger coming in from Dubai. This however was hidden in his underpants.

On 9 September, they confiscated memory cards worth Rs. 4 crore (roughly OMR 216659) from a trio that was travelling in from Bangkok.

Given this theme, people generally attempt to smuggle precious metals and stones and technology. Something which is expensive in India.
