Job portal accidentally accepts bakery for job interview

Muscat: 'Maan Namal' (together we work), the social media account that undertakes hiring procedures for Omani jobseekers and coordinates with companies for positions, has explained how a bakery in Sohar was accepted as a jobseeker to go for testing and a job interview.

The bakery's name was included among a list of jobseekers who were accepted for a job interview, where the bakery would have needed to compete against humans.

A statement by Maan Namal read: "We have followed with interest what has circulated on social media regarding a company's name being listed alongside job applicants who were accepted for job interviews and tests for a job opportunity in the private sector.

"We thank you for your care and interest and we would like to let it be known that an investigation has concluded that the company which was hiring had been accidentally placed among the applicants instead of the name of one of the people accepted," the statement added.
