State Audit Institution welcomes official from top accountancy firm

Muscat: A meeting of the State Audit Institution (SAI) welcomed the Vice-President of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) on Tuesday, September 10.

The meeting was held at SAI headquarter in Al Bustan where Nasser bin Hamood bin Salim Al Rawahi, Deputy Chairman of SAI, met with Atul Kumar Gupta, Vice-President of the ICAI. Other officials from SAI were also present.

Multifaceted cooperation

During the meeting, both parties examined the multifaceted cooperation between SAI and ICAI. They looked into the training aspects in the fields of legal, accounting and financial audit, IT audit and risk analysis, as well as determining relative importance in accordance with best international practice.

This is in line with the keen vigilance of SAI to build well trained capabilities, keeping pace with global advancements in the field.
According to officials from SAI, ICAI was founded in 1949 and is the second largest accounting agency in the world. It consists of 250,000 members playing a vital role in the current issues concerning the financial field and their implications.

Significant contributions

ICAI makes many significant contributions to its field through organizing different discussions, workshops and conferences focusing on different subject matters such as cyber security, emerging accounting technologies and Value-Added Tax (VAT).
