Muscat: The Ministry of Finance affirmed that it has no objection to exempting the children of Omani women married to non-Omanis, as well as Yemeni students studying in public schools from paying fees for services.

The number of students who were exempted this year stood at 1,089.

According to a circular issued by the Ministry of Finance, earlier, students had to pay OMR100 fees to the Ministry of Education every year and now they will have to pay only OMR50 for registration.

His Excellency Darwish bin Ismail Al Balushi, Minister Responsible for Financial Affairs addressed Dr. Madiha bint Ahmed Al Shaibaniyah, Minister of Education in response to a proposal to exclude children of Omani women married to non-Omanis and the Yemeni students them from paying fees for services provided by the Ministry of Education,” the circular reads.

It added: “With regard to the children of non-Omanis working in the Ministry of Education, it agreed to exempt them from paying 50 per cent of the service fees, which is set at OMR100 annually, with the payment of the full registration fees set at OMR50.”
