Pakistan Senate chairman cancels visit to UAE over Indian PM

Muscat: Pakistan’s Chairman Senate Sadiq Sanjrani has cancelled his scheduled visit to the United Arab Emirates (UAE) over Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s recent visit.

This was announced on the official twitter handle of Pakistan’s Senate on Sunday, August 25.

“Chairman Senate Mohammed Sadiq Sanjrani has decided to cancel his visit to the UAE. The pre-planned visit along with the parliamentary delegation [from Pakistan] has been canceled keeping in view the background of the recent visit of the Indian Prime Minister,” the statement on Senate of Pakistan read.

Sanjrani called off this visit to express solidarity with people of Kashmir.

“Let us be clear that Pakistan supports the struggle of Kashmiris for independence. And now the Kashmiri Muslims are oppressive and the curfew is imposed by Modi’s government. So, a visit to UAE in such scenario would harm the sentiments of Pakistani people and Kashmiri mothers, sisters and elders,” the statement added.
