Advanced training course for trade union members

Muscat: The General Federation of Oman Workers launched an advanced training programme for members of trade unions.
According to the federation, the programme is set to enhance the capabilities and skills of the members of the governing bodies of the trade unions.
The participants included members of trade unions, national trainers, and international expert, Nabil Al Hawashi.
At the beginning of the programme, the Chairman of the Federation Nabhan Al Batashi welcomed the participants in the programme.
He stressed the importance of this programme in developing their skills by providing them with advanced training skills, such as dialogue, negotiations and collective bargaining.
The programme aims at completing the in-depth training of the members of the administrative bodies of the trade unions. In addition to finding national trainers to continue the training process after being taught in regional and international training courses.
“Investment in knowledge is the most important focus of the Federation of Trade Union since its inception and the pursuit of training national trainers to continue the process of unionisation. The success of workers’ organisations is not measured by their age but by the gains made by their workers. This is something that the General Federation of Oman’s workers has been able to pay tribute to regionally and internationally.”
The first day dealt with the concept of negotiation and highlighted the concepts associated with it, its success factors and the importance of preparing for the stage of entering into direct negotiations with the employer.
Studies indicate that it is important to identify the most important labour needs before preceding into direct negotiations. it is also important that the labour demands are subject to bargaining, and that all parties must voluntarily enter into discussions with coercion in order to ease implementation of settlements or agreements.
