Over 4000 applications received in Q1 for business activities: MoCI

Muscat: A total of 4,397 applications for trademarks, commercial licenses, and commercial agencies were received by the Ministry of Commerce and Industry (MoCI) during the first quarter of 2019.

The Department of Statistics at MoCI said that 2,623 applications for trademarks, and 116 for patents were received during the first quarter. On the other hand 56 applications were submitted for industrial models and 56 applications were filed for copyright.

MoCI said 879 applications for commercial permits were filed in the first quarter, and 411were filed for imports and 37 for exhibition permits.

There were 138 applications for all types of commercial agencies, 15 for licenses for the sale of all types of petroleum products and 116 for all types of professional licenses.

MoCI also said that it "would continuously support the commerce and industry sectors by developing and formulating necessary policies, studies and necessary legislation, as well as their effective implementation.”

They said that they "will also focus on the role of economic zones and free zones for the revitalisation of economic activity."
