All Omani students in New Zealand safe: Consulate

Muscat: All Omani students in New Zealand are safe after a 3.9-magnitude earthquake hit New Zealand's Christchurch on Monday.

According to the statement issued by the Ministry of Higher Education, His Excellency Dr. Hamoud Al-Wardi, the Consul General of the Sultanate of Oman in Australia, said: "An earthquake occurred today at 8:43 AM in Christchurch in New Zealand. The earthquake was at 3.9 on the Richter scale and some students felt it."

"All our students are in good health. Their places of residence and their properties have not been affected." Al-Wardi added.

The Consulate General of Oman in Australia also urged all Omani students in New Zealand to be cautious.
