Arab Social Media Forum: Oman working on smart usage of social media

Muscat: Malik Shishtawi, President & Founder of the 'Arab Social Media Forum' (ASMF), and Mr. Antoine G. Aoun, Managing Partner of ProAct, the official local partner of ASMF, announced its 6th Edition in The Sultanate of Oman, which is scheduled to take place in Muscat on the 23rd of September 2019 under the auspices of the Ministry of Information at the Oman Convention and Exhibition Centre (OCEC).
Mr. Malik Shishtawi said that bringing ASMF to Oman for the first time is a very important achievement highlighting the key topics that will be covered including but not limited to, Social Media Marketing, Content, and Trends.
He pointed out statistics that highlights the high demand for social media in Oman as such:
- 3.78 Million are Internet
users representing 77% of the population.
- 2.5 Million active social media users representing 51% of the population.
- 1.9 Million Mobile Social Media users representing 39% of the population.
He added that organising the ASMF this year comes with a huge potential especially that the growth of Internet users exceeded 14% by January 2019.
He stated that this forum is suitable to raise key issues, such as mechanisms to activate this sector, and how to deal with it, especially with its rapid development. Adding that the forum will host panels to tackle different aspects of Social Media through Keynotes, Presentations, Constructive Discussions and Q&A.
Antoine Aoun said, that holding the Forum in The Sultanate of Oman, will transfer its experience after beingheld in several Arab Countries such as Jordan, Qatar, Palestine and Saudi Arabia, bringing international and local speakers, that focuses on issues related to how social networks can be used in NGOs, Government entities and the commercial and economic aspect of a Corporation, especially in the Media, Public Relations and Marketing fields without forgetting SME’s and Startups.
By embracing ASMF, The Sultanate’s confirms its part in this digital revolution.
He also highlighted the importance of social media, as it is a phenomenon that overlaps with our sectors of life, and it is important to learn how to benefit from it by its wide audience among academics, business owners, individuals, media people, marketing workers, as well as women who make this platform an opportunity to market their products and work from home.
